Utilising a large parcel of land to the rear of our clients garden we explored the potential of ‘backland development’ creating two rural detached dwellings to blend with surrounding agricultural context. Early designs were developed using the built form of an agricultural brick-built barn with a modern interpretation to accommodate modern family living arrangements and space. A local planning consultant was also appointed to overcome the local planning policies restricting development in this location.
